Biography

 

Guy Hetherington was born in Penrith, Cumbria in 1948 to Anglo-Russian parents. After leaving school he spent one year at Sussex University studying the History and Theory of Art before leaving to go to Kingston School of Art where he spent four years studying Fine Art. He was Visiting Tutor at Chelsea College of Art from 1972 to 1979.

He has been working in London as an artist since 1972 and has taken part in many one-person and group exhibitions in Great Britain, Russia, Cyprus and Mongolia where he has a longstanding relationship with the Artists’ Union. He has also travelled in Siberia as a guest of the Artists’ Union of Krasnoyarsk. His work is in the collections of the British Arts Council, the Contemporary Arts Society and other public and private collections and he has completed a number of mural commissions.
